ABOUT THE EXAM:
The written examination will be administered by Morris and McDaniel as a two part test.  The first part is the Reading Ability Procedure (RAP), which is a short test that assesses the candidate’s ability to read.  The second part of the written examination is to assess cognitive abilities and personal characteristics directly relevant to the firefighter position.

SCORES:
Results will be posted to your FirefighterApp.com account and a notification email will be sent once they are available.  In order to be considered further in the process, all applicants must have passed the Reading Exam.   Your score on the rest of the written examination will be rank ordered and those candidates scoring high enough to be further considered will be contacted and arrangements made for interviews.  A passing score will be professionally established after the test has been scored.

Those that have provided the required documentation for Veteran’s Preference Points will be awarded the appropriate points.

NEXT STEPS:
The UConn Fire Department will review the ranked list and may consider preferred qualifications met.  The UConn Fire Department will then reach out to candidates selected to move forward in the interview process.  Candidates hired during this entry-level process will be expected to attend the CT Fire Academy’s Recruit Training Program, unless they have attended an equivalent program. The next Recruit Class is scheduled to begin in February. Information on the Recruit Class and orientation sessions can be found at http://www.ct.gov/CFPC/cwp/view.asp?a=832&q=582466&cfpcNav=%7C.
